CherryHill Orchards, an 80-year-old cherry-producing company near Melbourne, hosts two highly popular annual festivals, attracting 500 to 2,500 guests daily. During the cherry-picking festival, I managed the on-site café, bar, and retail store, leading a team of 15 staff members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Opening and closing the café and retail service points
  • Cash management and reconciliation
  • Conduct team briefings, allocate staff duties, and coordinate breaks.
  • Maintain an exceptionally high standard of customer service.

 

  • Ensure quality control is maintained on all food and drink products.
  • Maintain strong team motivation and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Count and replenish stock.

Context and Company Description

The Froth Coffee Van, located in Broome, Australia, is a bustling hotspot known for its exceptional coffee. As the seasonal barista, I frothed up to 500 jugs of milk every morning from 6 AM to noon, managing incredible rushes as customers queued for their coffee. Word of mouth praised us as the best coffee spot in town.

Waterfront on the Pier, a stunning Port Melbourne venue with a high-end restaurant and an upstairs event space for 150–200 guests, faced challenging times during my tenure. Hired amidst financial difficulties, I worked as the only Barista, constantly learning and delivering exceptional service to help navigate the venue through this critical period.
